Alex Espy, Resident Artist
Our Resident Artist creates an arts curriculum focused on drama and visual arts that integrates with the school’s Creative Curriculum, including classroom instruction, teacher training, and family engagement activities. Our Resident Artist also works collaboratively with the Center’s licensed clinical social worker to address the special needs of students who have experienced trauma.
Alex Espy has worked almost exclusively in the world of theater for young audiences as an actor, writer, director, producer and designer. He has created original theater productions for the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Most recently, Alex served as narrator for the Kansas City Symphony’s student productions of “Peter and the Wolf”. Alex has also served as Artistic Director for the Boji Bantam Children’s Theater for three summers. A gifted visual artist and designer, he has created numerous scenic designs for The Coterie and has taught numerous theater and art classes, specializing in preschool and early elementary-aged children.
